About Me

Wendy Goldblatt, Ph.D.  is a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in individual, couples and family therapy, and maintains a private practice in New York.

My style of therapy is conversational. Over more than 25 years of practice, I have found that interaction enhances the energy level in the room and builds a strong relationship between my client and myself. I offer a good deal of feedback and it is in this give and take that we define the vital issues confronting a person. This relationship is a therapeutic alliance, a conversation between two people interacting as equal members of a team, to achieve the goals that have been set.

This therapeutic alliance is the foundation for all the work that we do. We delve into the past, as needed, because it illuminates the present. Who you were, and who you are, and the path connecting the two, gives us much of the information we need for you to change and then manage yourself.

My approach to psychotherapy is built on a mix of developing your cognitive skills and increasing your insight into the origins of behavioral patterns that are no longer working for you. We will work to reexamine your feelings, perceptions, and style of communication, using the therapeutic techniques of reality testing, behavioral rehearsal, and the organizing of conflicting thoughts into a coherent whole. Our goals will be to revamp patterns of behavior and distortions in thought so we can eliminate self-sabotage,
and ultimately enhance your effectiveness.
